- ChatVault is provided by Links Groups. Use it for personal, lawful purposes only.
- Your backup data belongs to you — we make no claim over it.
- The free tier is supported by ads. Pro removes ads and adds cloud features.
- We are not liable for data loss — always keep your backup files in a safe place.
- We can suspend accounts that abuse the service or violate these terms.
1. Who We Are
ChatVault is developed and published by Links Groups ("we", "us", "our"). By downloading, installing, or using the ChatVault app or website, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms").
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use ChatVault.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use ChatVault. By using the app, you confirm that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you should have permission from a parent or guardian.
3. Licence to Use the App
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use ChatVault on Android devices you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial use.
You may not:
- Copy, modify, or distribute the app or any part of it
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app
- Use the app to develop a competing product
- Remove any copyright or proprietary notices from the app
- Use the app in any way that violates applicable law
4. Your Data
Your SMS messages, MMS content, call logs, and contacts accessed by ChatVault belong entirely to you. We do not claim any ownership or right over your data.
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining copies of your backup files in a safe location
- The security of your encryption password — we cannot recover it if lost
- Ensuring you have the right to back up any data the app accesses on your device

5. Free Tier and Advertising
ChatVault is free to download and use for local backups. The free tier is supported by advertising. Ads are served by Google AdMob and are subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
Ads will never be shown inside your message conversations. Ad content is controlled by Google's ad policies.
6. ChatVault Pro
ChatVault Pro is a one-time in-app purchase that unlocks additional features including cloud backup, AES-256 encryption, PDF export, and scheduled backups. Pro also removes all advertising.
- Purchases are processed by Google Play and are subject to Google Play's Terms of Service
- Refunds are handled by Google Play in accordance with their refund policy
- Your Pro licence is tied to your Google Play account and can be restored on any device signed into that account
- We reserve the right to change Pro pricing at any time — existing purchasers are not affected
7. Third-Party Cloud Services
When you connect ChatVault to Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, or another cloud service, you are subject to that service's own terms and privacy policy. We are not responsible for the actions, availability, or policies of any third-party service.
We do not store your cloud account credentials. Authentication is handled via OAuth 2.0 directly with the provider.
8. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use ChatVault to:
- Back up or store content that is illegal, harmful, or that you do not have the right to possess
- Circumvent any technical measures in the app
- Interfere with the proper functioning of the app or any connected services
- Use automated tools to interact with the app in ways not intended by its design
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
ChatVault is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that:
- The app will be error-free or uninterrupted
- Backups will be complete, accurate, or recoverable in all circumstances
- The app will be compatible with all Android devices or future OS versions
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Links Groups shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of messages, or loss of profits, arising from your use of or inability to use ChatVault.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid for ChatVault Pro, or £10 if no purchase was made.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above may not apply to you.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Links Groups and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of ChatVault, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.
12. Intellectual Property
ChatVault, its logo, design, code, and all associated content are the intellectual property of Links Groups and are protected by applicable copyright and trademark law. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our trademarks, logos, or brand names.
13. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to ChatVault at any time, without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms.
You may stop using ChatVault at any time by uninstalling the app. Uninstalling does not delete backup files you have already created — those remain in your chosen storage locations.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via an in-app notification and update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
